Margaret "Mardy" Buck
Margaret C. Buck, known to many as “Mardy”, died peacefully on February
18, 2010, at age 87 due to complications of dementia. Mardy had been a
resident at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato for the past 18 months. She was
predeceased by her parents, the Reverend Harry W. Buck and Anna Mayer
Buck, her sister Lucy Buck Lehman, her brother-in-law Ken Lehman, and
her devoted friend, Dr. Jane Ann Roberts.
She is survived by several cousins and a host of devoted friends.

Mardy retired from a 37 year teaching career at Mankato State University
in 1990 as Professor of Health and Physical Education. She was

Macalester College in 1944, a Master of Science in Physical Education
from the University of Iowa in 1950, and a PhD in Physical Education
from the University of Iowa in 1967. Mardy and her sister Lucy worked
for the American Red Cross in Germany during WWII. She was very proud of
this service.

Mardy enjoyed traveling, swimming, golfing, and spending time with her
family and friends. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian
Church of Mankato and other professional organizations. Mardy will be
missed by all who were touched by her kindness, generosity and devotion.
A special thanks is given to the care staff at Sunrise Cottage and to
the extraordinary support provided by Elder Care Services staff.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Mardy's life on Friday,
February 26, 2010, at the Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home in
Mankato, MN, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.
